Junior Space Scientist Program - JSS '21

Every child is born with a curious mind but curiosity withers away with age. To fuel that curiosity and put them to best use SSERD has designed a Research program for High School students.

30 Day Research program

The Internship and Project Division(IPD) of SSERD is organizing a 30 days Junior Space Scientist Program. The Junior Space Scientist program is a research program where students of 8th to 12th grade from schools across India and abroad come together virtually and work on a small space research project. We believe that diversity of minds brings out the best ideas. The program is designed to help the students to understand the process of researching, working on a project and learn to work in teams. The students receive mentorship and guidance during research. This program also helps students to develop their social skills and learn to interact with people.

Projects on Space settlements, Astronomy, Aeronautics, Satellites and Rockets

The topics of research projects that we offer are Space settlements, Astronomy, Aeronautics, Satellites and Rockets. The students can choose their topic of interest to work on and there will be mentors specialized in the fields who will be guiding the students on these topics.

Team Work

The students learn to work in teams and complete an entire research project in just 30 days

Research Skills

The program is designed to develop the R&D skills of students at a young age. The students learn to look at the world through the eyes of a scientist and listen to the curious voice within them.

Get mentored

The students are trained and mentored by the SSERD team at every step of research.

Develop Skills

The students are also trained at virtual meeting etiquettes which is a skill of the hour.

Get Noticed

The students will also get an opportunity to present their work of research online at the end of the program to a crowd of scientists, engineers and other researchers.

Find your career path

High school is a stage to find the paths that lead us to our dreams. Therefore the program also includes career guidance to help them find their right path and choose the best for themselves.

One-to-one sessions

Every student is different and requires special attention at times and hence we provide 2 one-to-one sessions for each student to personally interact with the SSERD Team and Mentors.

Get Certified

Each student will be felicitated with a certificate at the end of the program, which will be helpful for their higher studies.

Students will be engaged for 2 hours from Monday to Friday and an optional fun activity to interact with fellow researchers will be organized on Saturdays. The students can work on their own at any time of their comfort within 30 days.

The program is completely virtual, however, students from in and around Bangalore who are willing to visit the SSERD office in Bangalore are welcome and can continue the program in a Hybrid manner.
